7-Day Makeup Challenge
Share
Want to refresh your makeup routine without completely changing your style? A 7-Day Makeup Challenge is an easy way to experiment with different looks, practice techniques, use products you already own, and discover what actually works for you.
Instead of trying to master everything at once, each day focuses on one specific part of your makeup routine. By the end of the week, you’ll have practiced everything from a simple everyday face to more polished eye makeup and a complete going-out look.
You can make the challenge as simple or creative as you like. Use your everyday products, try something you've been saving for a special occasion, or introduce one new technique each day.

Day 1: Create Your Perfect Everyday Base
Start the challenge with the foundation of almost every makeup look: your base. The goal isn't heavy coverage—it’s learning how to create skin that looks fresh, even, and comfortable.
Begin with your usual skincare routine, then apply primer if you like using one. Try using a small amount of foundation or skin tint and build coverage only where you need it. Add concealer under the eyes or around areas that need extra coverage rather than automatically applying more product everywhere.
Practice blending around the nose, jawline, and hairline so there are no obvious edges. A makeup sponge or foundation brush can make application much easier, depending on the finish you prefer.
Finish with a little blush, subtle bronzer, and setting powder where you tend to get shiny. Today's challenge is about discovering how little product you actually need to create a polished everyday base.

Day 2: Master Blush and Face Color
Day two is all about adding life and dimension to your face. Blush can completely change the appearance of a makeup look, but placement and blending make a huge difference.
Try applying blush slightly higher on the cheeks for a lifted appearance, or place it closer to the apples of your cheeks for a softer, youthful effect. Experiment with powder, cream, or liquid formulas to see which texture feels easiest to work with.
You can also practice combining blush with a small amount of bronzer or contour. Instead of creating strong lines, blend everything carefully so the colors transition naturally.
Take a photo in natural light when you're finished. This is a great way to see whether your blush placement and intensity look different on camera than they do in the mirror.

Day 3: Try a New Eye Makeup Look
For day three, move your attention to the eyes. Choose an eyeshadow combination that is slightly different from what you normally wear.
If you usually wear neutral shades, try adding a soft shimmer. If you rarely use eyeshadow, begin with two or three shades instead of attempting a complicated multi-color look.
Practice placing a lighter shade on the lid, a medium shade through the crease, and a slightly deeper color near the outer corner. Blend between each shade so there are no harsh transitions.
Then experiment with eyeliner, mascara, or an eyelash curler. You don't have to use all three. The goal is simply to practice one technique that you don't normally use.
By the end of the day, you'll have a better idea of which eye shapes, colors, and application techniques you enjoy.

Day 4: Perfect Your Brows
Brows can make a surprisingly big difference to the overall appearance of your makeup. Day four is dedicated to creating a neat, natural-looking brow routine.
Start by brushing your brows upward with a spoolie. Then fill only the areas that appear sparse instead of drawing a completely new shape.
A brow pencil can create precise hair-like strokes, while brow powder gives a softer appearance. Brow gel can then hold everything in place.
Try not to make both brows perfectly identical. Natural-looking brows usually have small differences, and working with your existing shape often creates a more flattering result than trying to completely transform it.
Today's challenge is less about dramatic brows and more about finding a quick routine you can realistically repeat every morning.

Day 5: Practice a Beautiful Lip Look
Day five gives your lips the spotlight. Instead of simply applying your usual lipstick, spend a little time experimenting with color, texture, and application.
Start by gently exfoliating if your lips need it, followed by a comfortable lip balm. Then try a lip liner to define the shape and help your lipstick stay in place.
Experiment with different finishes: glossy, satin, creamy, or matte. You can also try applying lipstick directly from the tube versus using a lip brush to create a softer, more precise finish.
If you're unsure about bold colors, try applying a brighter lipstick lightly and blending it with your finger for a more subtle stain.
The purpose of today's challenge is to discover a lip combination that makes you feel confident and can easily become part of your regular makeup rotation.

Day 6: Create a Monochromatic Makeup Look
Now it's time to make your makeup feel more coordinated. A monochromatic look uses similar tones across different parts of the face—for example, rosy shades on the eyes, cheeks, and lips.
Choose one color family that suits your mood. Peach, rose, berry, mauve, bronze, and soft brown are all easy starting points.
Use a similar tone on your eyelids and cheeks, then choose a lipstick or gloss that complements the same color family. The shades don't need to be identical; they simply need to feel connected.
This is also a great opportunity to practice restraint. Instead of adding lots of different colors, focus on blending and balance.
A monochromatic makeup look can appear sophisticated while still being surprisingly easy to create, making it a useful technique to keep in your beauty routine.

Day 7: Create Your Signature Full Makeup Look
You've reached the final day. Now combine the techniques you've practiced throughout the week and create a makeup look that feels like you.
Start with your favorite base routine, add the blush placement you liked most, recreate your favorite eye look, define your brows, and finish with your favorite lip combination.
You don't have to use every technique from the previous six days. Instead, choose the elements that made you feel the most confident and comfortable.
Take your time today and notice which steps feel natural and which ones still need practice. You can even photograph the finished look in different lighting to see how it translates throughout the day.
At the end of the challenge, you'll have more than one new makeup look—you'll have a better understanding of your own preferences and a routine that is easier to recreate.
Makeup Products to Keep Handy During the Challenge
You don't need a huge makeup collection to complete a seven-day challenge. A versatile makeup bag, foundation or skin tint, concealer, blush, bronzer, eyeshadow palette, eyeliner, mascara, brow product, lip liner, lipstick or gloss, makeup brushes, sponge, and setting spray are enough to create countless combinations.
A good brush set can also make the challenge easier because different brushes allow you to experiment with blending, precision, and placement.
Keep your frequently used products together in a makeup organizer or cosmetic bag so you can easily reach everything while practicing each day's look.
How to Make the Challenge More Fun
Turn each day into a small beauty ritual rather than another task on your to-do list. Put on music, clean your brushes before you begin, take a quick photo of each look, and write down which products you enjoyed using.
You can even create a simple makeup challenge journal where you record your favorite blush placement, best lipstick combination, easiest eye look, and products you want to practice more.
The most important rule is to experiment without expecting every look to be perfect. Makeup is a skill, and seven days of practice can make your routine feel much more comfortable and intentional.
